We’re reaching out to ask for support for our friend. This has already been an incredibly difficult year for them, and this unexpected emergency has only added more stress.

On Friday, while our friend was driving, their car began smoking and ultimately caught on fire. There’s a strong possibility the fire was caused by unsafe wiring done by the previous owner, something they had no way of knowing. Thankfully they made it out safely and were able to salvage most of their belongings, but the car is a total loss and unfortunately insurance won’t cover it.

Their car isn’t just transportation; it’s how they get to work and a vital part of the community and programming work they consistently show up for.

We’re hoping to raise $5K for a reliable used car, plus an additional $1,000 to cover towing costs, replace essential items lost in the fire, and to cover GoFundMe fees.

Beyond the financial need, helping our friend rebuild right now would give them stability and a bit of peace after a year filled with crisis. We know things are hard for so many people at the moment, but even a small contribution truly makes a difference.
