Help Rebuild After Another Devastating Flood

Hi Everyone!

It absolutely kills me to ask for help, especially being stubborn people and never accepting such.

But after 2 floods within a year, losing everything we have worked for twice, it feels like we absolutely have to. We are still recovering from our previous flood.

Last night, July 14th, we started getting a LOT of rain. It went from a small amount on the street to over 2 feet within literal seconds.

As our apartment flooded, both dog and cat inside the house, we were trying to raise up our valuables as much as we can. For most of those items, it wasn’t high enough.

We had to climb through our bedroom window to get out of flood waters, and thankfully my landlord was able to ladder us up into his second floor unit. We waited there for about 3 hours until the water receded and we were able to pump most out.

Coming into the apartment today with everything drained, the damage was worse than we ever would have anticipated. When we flooded last August, it was about 6 inches of water. This time it was 16 inches.

Every single piece of furniture we rebought last year is ruined. Our mattress, appliances, and a lot of sentimental items we have accumulated over the years is gone. All of my highschool art projects. Dominik’s collectibles and amp. All destroyed.

We are devastated. But we also refuse to put our life on pause while we rebuild our life from the bottom up. We are safe and that’s what matters most.

Funds will go towards finding a new apartment, costs of our deposit and first month rent fees, furniture, and time spent being unable to work. As a tattoo artist, if I don’t work I don’t make money, and Dominik has no more vacation time to take.
