On Friday, August 8, 2025, my brother was the victim of a brutal, unprovoked hate crime while using public transportation. The attack was so severe that he tragically lost his right eye.

This horrifying incident has left him facing weeks of recovery, countless medical appointments, and the emotional trauma of being targeted simply for who he is. He will need to be fitted for a custom ocular prosthesis—a specialized procedure that is both costly and essential for his comfort, health, and confidence. He will also need reconstructive nose surgery.

During this time, he will be unable to work, leaving him without income while medical bills and living expenses continue to mount.
