The last few years of my life have been unbelievably hard. I’ve had to start over more times than I can count — three times in just the past five years — but nothing prepared me for what I’m going through now.

On June 21st, I was pulled over by the police under false pretenses. To my complete shock, I was arrested for a warrant from another state — a warrant I didn’t even know existed. I later learned I was being falsely accused of a crime I didn’t commit. I spent two weeks in jail waiting to be extradited, terrified, confused, and completely alone. In that short time, I lost everything — except my job, which I’m so grateful to still have.

While I was locked away, my grandmother suffered a stroke. I couldn’t be there for her. I couldn’t be there for my family. I couldn’t even be there for my daughter.

Since getting out on bail, I’ve been trying to pick up the pieces of my life. My daughter is staying with my mom in California while I try to get stable here in Georgia. I’ve been sleeping in my car, working every day, and saving every penny I can. I’ve hired a lawyer to fight these false charges, but legal help is expensive, and my resources are stretched painfully thin.

I’ve found an apartment complex willing to work with me — but I need help getting over this final hump. I just want to create a safe, stable space for my daughter, who will be home in a few weeks to start school. On top of rent and deposits, I need to get her school supplies, clothes, and all the basics.
