Sweetest_little_lucy

Her name is lucy ❤️ (Lu for short)
Update #2 this girl is incredibly smart & finding love & affection everywhere.
After being so neglected, not fed, chained up outside
She does so well in the house, accidents in the house is rare & already knows going outside is safe & shell never be left alone again.
This girl started in merritt, finding her way on her own.
Now she is going to be moving to squanish where I live & going to be spoiled by friends, the mountains and the lush green forest!

Update # 1- surgery went very well and shes in loving care of her temporary foster home while she recovers. There was some rocks in her stomach, but!! Thankfully NO surgery needed. we were informed they are already passing and we just needed to put her on a special diet for 3 days
I've been visiting her often & shes moving around with her splint on showing signs of no slowing down. But! She is a big cuddle bug and accepts all the love.

I never expected to be writing something like this. I wasn’t looking for a dog, and I certainly wasn’t prepared for what I saw that day on the highway in Merritt. But sometimes life puts something in front of you that you simply cannot walk away from.
A tiny 5-month-old puppy had been struck on the highway—hit hard enough to break her hind leg in two major places. The car that hit her drove away, leaving her crying in agony on the road. I was the first person to reach her. As I ran toward her, she was screaming in pain… and honestly, I was crying too.
I knelt beside her, grabbed her little face gently, and told her she was safe. And in that instant—she stopped crying. She just looked at me with these big, trusting eyes, as if she had been waiting for someone to tell her she wasn’t alone anymore. In that moment, I fell completely in love with her.
The SPCA had originally told the vet they would amputate her leg. That was going to be her future—another bad card in a life that had barely even begun. But I couldn’t let that happen. Not after seeing the way she looked at me. Not after being the only person there when she needed someone the most.
So I stepped in. I told them I would take responsibility for her, for her care, for her healing, and yes—for the cost. Even though I wasn’t prepared for it financially, I knew I couldn’t turn my back on her. She deserves more than what life has handed her so far.
Her leg can be saved, but the surgery to rebuild it is expensive. Between the emergency care, the orthopedic surgery, medications, follow-ups, and existing vet bills, I’m facing costs I simply can’t cover alone. But she deserves the chance to grow up with four legs—to run, to play, to have the life she almost lost before it even started.
If you can help, in any amount, you’re not just donating—you’re rewriting the future for a puppy who has already survived more than most animals ever should. You’re helping give her a life filled with love instead of pain.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of her recovery.
She didn’t choose her beginning… but with your help, we can change her story.
❤️ Thank you from both of us.

In full transparency for everyone
5000$ is the quote from the vet for the hind leg surgery to repair the two major breaks
That 5000$ has already been funded by myself so she isn't in pain & doesnt lose her leg.

All donations will go towards the surgery its self, anything else will be for physiotherapy, healing & follow up visits to keep her healthy & well.
