I was a giving, happy idealistic person. Who worked hard all of my life to provide for my family and to provide to the clients of my business, more than what was expected.

I built a home to honor the love that I had for my family; my mother and my partner in 2016. I came to find out that once I finished the project, my partners truth was to deprive me of the equity we created through their financing power and my real estate development companies expertise, ingenuity and labor. I had negotiated a purchase price of $350K from $600K (which a conglomerate of attorneys agreed to pay). Though it was my commitment to save the 130 year old, 13,478 sqft property, that won me the purchase over the compwtition.

You see, this property is/was in my opinion, one of the most significant private properties built in Chicago, if not the most significant as, it was never announced as a Historic Landmark. Built by black man; who was a Doctor & General in Grants Army. Built in 1896, the property operated as a hospital & Convalescent home serving Chicago’s Black Community. For the time, it was constructed & fortified to withstand the harshness of time.

Investing $280K into, and after 11-Months of 18-Hour days labor, I had my property appraised for $1.2M. I celebrated the opportunity to gift my mother a place to live out her life after 8 months of rehab of the coach couse, and released the main property to my partner to host his housewarming party at the 11th month.

After living 2.5 years together as a family unit, my partner slithered out of the country to Italy. Which is the weekend, I would be served in Sept 2018 with eviction papers...I was gutted.

After securing attorneys who fought on my behalf & minimize my out of pocket costs. We agree to sell the property, after I spent half a year, living within to prepare the dwelling for sale. My partner never wanted me to realize ANY reward so in 2019, the home was under sold to satisfy the cost spent. Yet, five years would pass until I would be able to reach settlement with my partner. I was made to close the business that I built 15years before meeting them. After the costs, I was granted $85,000. That was quickly spent to cover bills incurred, and the cost of storage of my family history, as I have been homeless and couch hopping for almost 3 years now. My home which was sold for $785K in 2019, has just sold last November 2023 for $1.1M.

During these most recent years post Covid, I have been diagnosed with ailments resulting from my Marphans Syndrome. I have had the misfortune of three major hospitalizations & surgeries. I have PTSD & been clinically diagnosed with depression for the past decade. I have recently suffered a lot of psychological stress due to the death & loss of numerous close family members. Lastly, and mostly due to homelessness & superficial issues of not owning a computer since winter 2022. I have been unable to rejoin the sales profession that I had built my 25 year career upon. Not having worked for an entity in the past 12 years (Novartis Pharmaceuticals & Google), has weakened my value proposition.

After 200+ job submissions and taking opportunities the past year to get my commercial drivers license. I have preliminary acceptance to be a CTA bus driver & also, a charter & school bus driver in the north shore. I have no savings, and I do not know when these jobs will start.

I have been on waiting lists for housing for three years; and I have monthly storage costs; vehicle costs like annual fees, monthly insurance & weekly gas; life sustaining medicines; and domestic costs of laundry etc. I have no income & no family to help. I am in desperate need & pray daily that I can do more than survive God's gift of tomorrow.
