Hurricane Melissa devastated communities across Jamaica, leaving many families with unimaginable loss. Among them is “Uncle”, a dear family friend who has always been like family to us. Though not related by blood, he has been a constant presence in our lives: dependable, kind, hardworking, and always willing to help anyone in need.
Today, he needs our help.
Uncle is the sole provider and primary caregiver for his three grandchildren; one girl and two boys. Their home was completely destroyed in the hurricane. They lost everything. The place that once held their memories, stability, and safety is now gone.
For a man who has always put others first, this loss has been heartbreaking.
What We’re Raising Funds For
Our goal is to help Uncle rebuild a safe and stable home for his grandchildren.
If we are fortunate enough to reach the goal of $26,000 CAD, we hope to purchase a cube home. A durable, secure, and affordable housing solution that can be placed on the land where his home once stood. This would give his family a fresh start and the long-term stability they deserve.
If we raise less than our goal, every dollar will still go directly toward securing safe housing, whether that means temporary rental support, essential household items, or helping him rebuild in any way possible.
Why This Matters
Uncle is the kind of person who shows up for his family, his neighbours, and for anyone who needs a helping hand. He has spent his life quietly supporting others.
Now, in his greatest moment of need, we have an opportunity to show up for him; demonstrating humanity and love wins.
