For over 33 years, Cindy Betham has been a steady, loving presence at Lā‘ie Elementary—teaching, mentoring, and shaping the lives of nearly 800 children in our community. Her classroom has always been a place where students felt safe, encouraged, and inspired to grow—not just academically, but as kind and capable individuals.
She and her husband, Dave, have both given so much to this community over the years. Through her work in the classroom and Dave’s leadership at the local Marriott, they have consistently shown up with service, generosity, and care for those around them.
Now, their family is facing an incredibly difficult season.
During the recent Kona storm, their home was flooded with several feet of water, forcing them to evacuate as conditions became unsafe. By the time the water receded, their home was left filled with mud and severe damage, making it unlivable. They have not been able to return, and repairs are expected to take months or longer.
As they navigate this unexpected challenge, they are also searching for a temporary place to stay while working to rebuild their home and restore a sense of normalcy.
After decades of pouring into the lives of others, this is an opportunity for us—her students, families, and community—to come together and lift their family in return.
Any donation, prayer, or share would mean so much to them.
Funds will go toward immediate and ongoing needs not fully covered by insurance or FEMA assistance.
Mahalo for helping us support a family who has given so much to so many
