Hello, my name is Dayelene, I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend, Rebekah a single mother of two beautiful children who is also responsible the wellbeing of her elderly mother, Norma.

For the past few years, Rebekah and her family have been trapped in an exhausting and heartbreaking battle after their builder abandoned the site. What was meant to be a dream home has instead become a source of financial stress, emotional strain, and so much uncertainty.

Rebekah signed her building contract in late 2021. After repeated delays, the builder walked away in 2022, leaving only a slab and partial frame behind. Which led to legal action, but the case has been drawn out for years with hearings continually delayed and still in process with legal costs mounting.

To make matters worse, Rebekah is not eligible for insurance assistance due to current policies. The maximum she could ever recover is far less than what is needed to rebuild her home. Council has also threatened hefty fines if the block is not made safe—piling more stress on a family already carrying an impossible burden.

Through it all, Rebekah has shown incredible resilience. She continues to raise her children with love, care for her mother, and even work as a support worker for other families. All while enduring years of uncertainty, sleepless nights, financial hardship, mental and emotional exhaustion.

Their vision is simple, yet so deeply important:

For her mother Norma, 79 years young, to spend her remaining years in a safe and finished home, overlooking the valley - is Rebekah's greatest wish.

Also for her children to have stability, security and a place they can truly call home.

For Rebekah to regain her health, energy, and peace of mind so she can continue to be the bright, giving presence she is in her community of 3228 and beyond.

This is not an isolated story - sadly, many families have been found themselves in similar situations left to pick up the pieces—financially, emotionally, and mentally. But together, as a community, we can make a difference for the Abela family.

Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping Rebekah and her family move forward in any capacity. Whether it be used to pay down legal debt, ongoing legal costs or the ultimate dream to be able too build their family home.
