Help Rebecca Study Abroad in Madrid
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Rebecca Lee, and I am a junior at Claudia Taylor Johnson High School in San Antonio, Texas. I have recently been accepted to the Advanced Spanish Language and Culture High School abroad program through CIEE (Council on International Education Exchange), where I will have the opportunity to spend four weeks in Madrid, Spain, to further my language skills and immerse myself in a new culture.
I am very passionate about learning languages, and I have been studying Spanish for four years and French for two in school. I will take AP exams for both of these subjects in the spring. I am an officer in both our school’s Model UN program and National French Honor Society, and I participate as well in National Spanish Honor Society to further my knowledge of other cultures and global perspectives. As the city in which I live has great interconnections to Hispanic culture and the Spanish language, I know that I will use my proficiency in Spanish to better serve others around me and bring positive change to my community. Finally, I would like to advance my ability in communication to help people across different backgrounds and needs.
CIEE is the leading nonprofit, nongovernmental student exchange organization that has been operating since 1947 and aspires to help students and teachers become active and responsible global citizens through study abroad. As a Global Navigator in this program, I will have the opportunity to receive college credit through this experience. In addition, I plan to study Political Science or International Relations for my undergraduate degree after graduation from high school.
The tuition for this program is $6,500 plus airfare, and I was also able to receive a small merit scholarship through CIEE. This tuition includes all of my language lessons, cultural classes, excursions, housing, and meals. I would be so grateful if you could assist me in reaching this goal; any sort of contribution would be greatly appreciated.
My program tuition is due by April 14th, 2022. If you prefer, you may also contribute through my Venmo (@Suhhyun-Lee).
