Our mother, Rebecca Stein, lost her home from Tuesday's heavy rain in Silverado Canyon, CA on December 14th. We are completely devastated and are trying to help our mom in any way possible. This was the first home she had purchased all on her own. It was a modest house, nothing fancy, but it was hers. It was her sanctuary away from the busy and hectic life of being a Pre-K teacher for Saddleback Unified School District. She lost everything in that house - it was “red-tagged” as a result of the damage from tons of debris flow as a result of the heavy rain. Her house near the top of the canyon road took the brunt of the debris flow. Inside there is four feet of mud, everything is ruined. The street in front of her house is gone, replaced by 6-8 feet of boulders, mud and other debris. The County will not help as they consider this area as private property. Now, she is facing an uphill battle with her insurance company. Rebecca lost nearly every possession she owned and is without a home. We are asking for donations, no matter how small, every donation will help.

Rebecca is a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She has two daughters and one son, who mean the world to her. She is a kind and generous woman, a great teacher and is loved by all who know her. She and her dog Kobe evacuated the canyon as soon as the evacuation warnings were sent. Thankfully no one was hurt during the storm and flooding. So many have asked how they can help and we appreciate all the kind thoughts and prayers. This is one way to help. With any donations received Rebecca will be able to begin rebuilding. She needs to find a place to live in the area so that she can continue to teach her “kids” at La Tierra Elementary.
