My life changed suddenly when my mother suffered a stroke and an aneurysm. For the past 12 years, we've been roommates and best friends, sharing our lives and supporting each other. After her stroke, I tried my best to care for her at home, but her needs became too great for me to manage alone. She began to slip into early dementia, and it was heartbreaking to watch her struggle with hallucinations and delusions. I took time off work to be with her, but the constant back and forth between caregiving and my job made it impossible to keep up with everything.
As a result, I fell behind on my rent and am now at risk of losing my home. I own a mobile home in a wonderful park, and it's been my safe haven through all of life's ups and downs. The funds I raise here will help me get my rent up to date and give me a small cushion so I can continue to support myself. I know I need to keep working and accept that my mom needs to be in a facility now, even though it's incredibly hard to let go.
Your support would mean everything to me. Being able to stay in my home with my dog, visit my mom, and continue this transition in my life would make a world of difference. My mom is my best friend, and it's so hard losing her like this. Thank you for any help or encouragement you can offer during this difficult time.
