On February 17th, 2026, our vibrant and beloved Rebecca collapsed suddenly with what turned out to be a serious bleed in her brain. She had no warning signs or symptoms, and thankfully was at the home of a close friend, so help was called immediately.
Rebecca was hospitalized in Canada for 2 weeks to become stable, then transferred to a hospital back in the states, then transferred to a hospital in Seattle for ongoing care. Just last week, we were able to arrange long term, in home care for her, and she is now in Bellingham with her mom, Karen.
Rebecca has the full support of her closest friends and family, but we have no idea how long it will take her to recover. She is currently minimally responsive, and on respiratory support via a trachea. Brain injuries can take MONTHS to heal, and we don’t know how much of this experience she will remember.
Her outlook for a full recovery is positive, but the road is long. Her job, and long term disability will both end, placing her on Medicare for insurance. We have already had to move her out of her apartment.
We are fundraising to support her mom in dealing with -
- The current onslaught of medical bills (6 weeks of intensive care from 3 different hospitals)
- Ongoing in home care for the duration of her recovery, including support for Karen as her primary caregiver
- Funds available for Rebecca to get back on her feet when she is able.
Rebecca is an incredible artist across several mediums, a cat mom, a fiercely loyal friend, a devoted daughter, and a brilliant human being who gives her light and love and care to everyone she meets. Please help support her and her family through this incredibly heartbreaking time. Every dollar and share help! All donations go directly to her and her mom.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
