Help Rebecca Guerra Recover from Chronic Pancreatitis

This fundraiser is to support Rebecca Guerra P., a sweet 8-year-old girl from Peru who has been suffering from constant vomiting since birth. To date, she has endured 16 episodes of pancreatitis.

In 2018, when Rebecca was just 2 years old, doctors discovered a membrane obstructing her digestive tract and preventing food and milk from passing. The membrane was removed, which brought some relief, but soon after, she began experiencing repeated bouts of pancreatitis, which have progressively damaged her pancreas. Last year, she was diagnosed with Pancreas Divisum.

On May 3rd, 2025, Rebecca underwent a complex 12-hour surgery (the Whipple procedure) in which part of her pancreas was removed. The surgery was successful, though it lasted twice as long as expected and included additional procedures. Rebecca is currently in the Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) receiving specialized postoperative care. Due to these complications, the estimated cost of the surgery and care has increased from US$11,000 to US$14,000.

This fundraiser was created to help Rebecca’s parents cover the unexpected medical expenses. Thank you for taking the time to read her story.
