It took quite a bit to get my wife and best friend, Rebecca, to agree to let me make this Gofundme. She has been quietly and bravely searching for answers regarding her health for a long time. Her life was derailed last year by her worsening endometriosis, and she found out that having a hysterectomy was the answer. Having to come to terms with having a hysterectomy as a young woman in her 30's is hard enough, but having to face chronic, debilitating and unpredictable pain has changed her life. Watching her try and manage such severe pain that cannot even be managed with medication and figure out how to go to work and live her life has been heartbreaking. After many months of wait-lists and fighting like hell, she finally got scheduled for the surgery on February 2. Knowing there was an end in sight, she has held on and pushed through to get to this day. To our shock and heartbreak, we found out today, 2.5 weeks before her surgery, that she has been denied paid medical leave, and her out of pocket costs are more than double what was anticipated and will be due on the day of her surgery. She has used up all of her PTO because she hasn't been well enough to work some days, and now she doesn't have enough PTO to have the surgery to make her well enough to work! We've had some money tucked away in anticipating costs for the surgery, but it won't nearly cover what is required. She has had to face the very hard reality that if we are unable to pay, she has to cancel the surgery. For anyone who knows her, it is no surprise how hard she works and she strong-arms her way through life. When trying to figure out today how we'd do this, she said, "Then I'll just get an additional job." Absolutely you will not, I said. She is the most loving, caring and supportive person. She shows up for everyone in her life and I want for this to be a time when she can get the support, health care and healing she so deserves. I am so grateful for her and for all the continued love and support from our community. Any donations are welcome and beyond appreciated to ensure she can have this much needed surgery to get her life back and to support her in recovery!
