My name is Rebecca, and I recently moved for a new job opportunity as an in-home wound care nurse. This work is meaningful to me because I get to help people heal and regain their independence. However, the physical demands of my job—twisting, bending, and kneeling—have become extremely challenging due to issues with my current prosthetic socket. Without a proper fit, every shift is painful, and it’s getting harder to do the work I love.

On top of this, my insurance lapsed during my move, and I’m now facing a gap in coverage until my new benefits begin. This means I have to pay out of pocket for both my insurance premium and a new socket for my prosthetic. The costs are more than I can manage alone, especially while waiting for my new coverage to start. I’m reaching out for help so I can get the care and equipment I need to keep working and supporting myself.
