Help Support Rebecca Bennett and Her Beautiful Family
Introducing baby Boone Michael! Born on 2/12 at 10 am, Boone weighed 5 lb 11 oz and measured 19 inches long. Despite arriving at 34 weeks, he’s in the 86th percentile for his gestational age, a great sign of his strength and resilience. Boone was born after an incredibly challenging journey for Rebecca, his mama, and her family.
My best friend Rebecca, a stay-at-home mom to their energetic 2.5-year-old daughter, Berkley, was admitted to the hospital on January 31 due to PPROM (preterm premature rupture of membranes) at just 33 weeks pregnant. She was transferred to Missoula Medical Center, where she spent 12 days on strict bed rest under the care of maternal-fetal medicine specialists. During this time, she received IV antibiotics and injections to help Boone’s lungs develop. The risks of PPROM include infection, and on the night of 2/12, Rebecca began experiencing flu-like symptoms, chills, and a fever. Boone’s heart rate became elevated, and Rebecca started having contractions. By the time Mike arrived from Dillon, the contractions were just a minute apart, and Boone was delivered by emergency c-section at 9:57 am.
Boone was immediately taken to the NICU for low oxygen support, IV antibiotics and fluids, a feeding tube, a fever, and continuous monitoring. While he is stable at this time, he will need time to develop his breathing, feeding, development, and stamina. The NICU stay could last up to five weeks.
This sudden turn of events has been incredibly overwhelming for the Bennett family. Mike, who runs a small welding and fabrication business, has been juggling work, traveling back and forth to Missoula, and caring for Berkley. Becca’s mom, Grandma Marianne, has stepped in to help care for Berkley during this challenging time, but the distance and uncertainty have been a huge strain on everyone.
We are reaching out to rally support—both financially and through prayers. Any contribution will help ease the burden of medical bills, travel expenses, and the long hospital stay as Becca and Boone continue to navigate this difficult time. No family should have to stress about money during such a challenging situation.
Donations will be used for the following:
- $3,000 for medical expenses (Becca’s insurance didn’t start until 2/1, but she was admitted on 1/31).
- Travel costs for Mike, Grandma Marianne, and Berkley to and from Missoula.
- Loss of income for Mike due to his travel and time spent caring for the family.
- Any extra funds raised will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, who have been a godsend, offering the Bennett family a place to stay during Becca’s hospital stay and Boone’s NICU stay.
