Rebeca is a three-time cancer survivor who has faced each battle with courage and faith. Just a few months ago, she heard the words no one ever wants to hear again: “It may be cancer.”

Last week, she was prepped for surgery, ready to take the next step in her fight, when she was suddenly turned away at the operating room doors. In that heartbreaking moment, she learned her private insurance had been canceled by her ex-husband.

Without insurance, the hospital couldn’t move forward, and Rebeca was left in limbo, unsure if the cancer has returned.

Now, she’s doing everything she can to find a way forward. Rebeca can’t reinstate her medical insurance, and private coverage is simply out of reach for a single mother of two sons, one still in high school, the other in college, who cannot work under doctor’s orders.

She faces not only mounting medical bills but also the daily challenge of keeping her household running while she recovers.

Despite it all, Rebeca remains strong and positive. But the stress on her and her boys has been overwhelming.

Private health insurance would allow her to move forward with surgery and testing right away, instead of waiting months, or even a year, through Mexico’s public health system, where she would have to start from scratch with scans, X-rays, and lab work.

Without it, she’ll need to pay out of pocket for every procedure and follow-up appointment.

Cancer has been part of Rebeca’s story for more than a decade: parotid gland surgery in 2005, cancer and brain surgeries in 2014, another in 2016, and now this new fight in 2025.

Through it all, she has faced every challenge with courage and grace—always choosing hope.

Today, she is choosing hope once more, and humbly asking for your help.

Your support, whether through a donation, a message of encouragement, or sharing her story, will help Rebeca get the care she needs, stay afloat through recovery, and focus on healing and caring for her two sons.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing with Rebeca.
