My name is Gwen Hicks, the mother-in-law of Reagan Cameron. We are from Sumrall, Mississippi. Reagan is married to my oldest son, Terral Cameron. They have two sons, Parker and Myles, ages 10 and 7 respectively. Reagan is a local banker in our community and at this time, we do not know when and if Reagan will be able to return to work. Reagan underwent tests on Saturday, September 4, 2021, due to what she thought was her strep throat getting worse. She was referred from an immediate care clinic to the ER of our local hospital. After a battery of tests, the hospital suspected and determined that she had Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Due to her emergency state, she was airlifted to the University Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. This came as an extreme shock to her, her husband, and family, as she went from what she thought was a minor problem to being told she had cancer (all in a matter of hours).
My son, Terral Cameron works offshore off the coast of Louisiana. Due to the recent hurricane on August 29th, Terral is currently at home due to the platforms being in need of repairs. Obviously Terral being home during this unexpected emergency, was indeed a blessing.
Reagan has begun very aggressive chemotherapy treatments as prescribed by her team of doctors at the University Medical Center. At a minimum, she will be at UMC for at least a month or a little longer. At that time, there will be tests run to determine the future course of action to fight this terrible cancer of the blood and the bone marrow. There will be many stays in and out of the hospital during the next several months.
Because of all the unknowns for both Reagan and Terral, there will be medical, travel, meals expenses for them. There will also be expenses for the kids, including meals, child care, school, etc.
I am humbly asking for your support for this precious family, as they can concentrate more on her getting the treatment she needs versus worrying over finances. All funds donated will be directed to Reagan and Terral Cameron.
