Hello, my name is Sian, and I’m fundraising for my 7-year-old nephew, Rayshon—a bright, brave little boy with a life-limiting heart condition whose dream is to visit Barbados, the birthplace of his great-grandmother and our family’s homeland.

Rayshon’s Story

Rayshon came into the world fighting. Born extremely prematurely at just 26 weeks, he spent his first 7 months in neonatal intensive care, where he was diagnosed with congenital heart disease—a rare and complex condition that has shaped his life ever since.

In just seven years, Rayshon has already undergone:

• 2 open heart surgeries

• 15 catheter procedures

• Countless hospital stays and check-ups

• Lifelong medication and monitoring

His condition is sadly life-limiting, and his most recent heart surgery has been his toughest yet. He’s faced multiple setbacks and infections that have slowed his recovery—but Rayshon keeps smiling through it all, bringing joy to everyone he meets.

He’s known for singing “Lava Chicken” to his nurses, cracking jokes with his siblings, and dancing in his hospital bed when he’s strong enough.

Why Barbados?

Rayshon’s maternal grandmother was born in Barbados and came to the UK as part of the Windrush generation. Rayshon has always felt a strong connection to the island through stories, food, and family traditions. His biggest dream is to see Barbados for himself—to feel the ocean breeze, walk on the same ground his grandmother did, and connect with the family he hasn’t met in person.

This trip would mean the world to him—a moment of light, pride, and joy in a life that’s had far too many hospital walls.
