Raymond is an 80-year-old man who continues to work long shifts, not because he wants to, but because he has to. He is also the primary caregiver for his wife, and together they face the daily challenges of making ends meet as the cost of living rises. I met Raymond while waiting in line at Target. He was hunched over, holding himself up at the cashier line, and I asked if he needed a chair. He told me that if he sat down, he probably wouldn’t be able to get back up. During our short conversation, Raymond shared his biggest fear: that one day he might be “sleeping under a bridge” because everything has become so expensive.

Raymond’s story touched me deeply. He works tirelessly to provide for his family, but the burden is heavy and the future uncertain. I started this fundraiser to help ease some of that burden and give Raymond a chance to rest, knowing that his community cares. The funds raised will go directly toward his living expenses, and hopefully, allow him to retire or at least reduce his work hours.
