My name is Raymond Clay, and for the last 15 years, I have dedicated my life to building a dream: The Passport Food Truck. This wasn’t a business that was handed to me, financed overnight, or built by a team of professionals. It was built one piece at a time, over the course of fifteen years, through hard work, sacrifice, and determination. I saved for years working as a nurse to purchase equipment piece by piece. I spent countless nights and weekends learning skills I never imagined I would need to know—cutting, grinding and polishing steel and aluminum, sanding, fabrication, electrical work, plumbing, painting, and construction. I poured not only my savings into this dream, but also my heart and soul, my time, and a significant part of my life. The single-minded determination and focus it took to rebuild this truck came at a heavy cost to my family and my relationships.

I’ve had setback after setback, but I never gave up. I just kept pushing forward. Anyone who knows me knows that’s who I am. At one point, I trusted a company to do some remodeling. The guy said it would take him two months, but it ended up taking much longer and costing far more than expected. After a lengthy court battle, I finally got my truck back, only to discover that the work was poorly done. Every single bit of the work the company had supposedly completed had to be redone. Not only that, the drain for the exhaust hood was left closed during the time it was in their possession, which ended up making it flood inside and completely rotted the floors out. So when I got it back, I had to tear it all the way down to the frame and rebuild the truck completely myself along with the help of my wife and kids. I fought to get my truck back, won my court battle, and then started over. Rather than give up, I rebuilt it myself from the ground up. My wife and children helped me build this dream. My family believed in this dream. Everyone who knows me knows that The International Passport to Deliciousness Food Truck wasn’t just a business venture—it was my lifelong dream. After years of work and investment, we finally opened our doors. Today July 3, 2026, would’ve been my second trial run, and my grand opening was going to be tomorrow as long as everything went OK. But in less than an hour, everything changed.

After conducting multiple successful tests over the previous week, a fire started in the generator enclosure and quickly spread. Despite every effort, the Truck was completely destroyed. After fifteen years of sacrifice, I was less than 24 hours away from my grand opening. Fifteen years of hard work, sacrifice, memories, and dreams were lost in a matter of minutes. I am still trying to process what happened. I’m not someone who has ever found it easy to ask for help. For fifteen years, I’ve tried to do this on my own. I put everything I had in the world into this truck and was on the cusp of it finally turning into more than just a dream. But today, I’m asking for the support of my community, my friends, my family, and anyone who believes in perseverance and second chances. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go toward helping rebuild The International Passport to Deliciousness Food Truck and replacing the equipment, supplies, and infrastructure that were lost in the fire. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser would mean more than I can express. I have spent fifteen years proving that I won’t quit when life knocks me down. I don’t intend to quit now. Thank you for believing in me, believing in my family, and believing in this dream. — Raymond Clay Owner, The International Passport to Deliciousness
