On Sunday, December 14, my uncle Raymond, aunt Elizabeth, their children Josh and Marissa, and my aunt’s brother Louis lost their home of 20 years in Rockaway, NJ to a devastating fire. The loss has left them heartbroken and in shock, as they try to process not only the destruction of their home but also the passing of their two beloved cats, Onyx and Nova, who succumbed to smoke inhalation. Their home was filled with memories, photos, and personalized items that meant the world to them, and the loss has been overwhelming for the entire family.

Right now, Raymond, Elizabeth, Louis, Josh, and Marissa are staying in a hotel, but it’s not the same as being together in a real home. They are the kind of family who cherish time together, love making memories, and find comfort in the little things that make a house feel like home.
