Help Ray Looney's Second Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Eight years ago, my uncle, Ray Looney, bravely battled cancer on the left side of his throat. With the help of chemotherapy and radiation, he overcame it and was declared cancer-free. We were so grateful for his recovery and the strength he showed throughout that journey.
This year, our family was devastated to learn that cancer has returned, this time on the right side of his throat, and in a more aggressive, fast-growing form. On June 24, 2025, Ray underwent a total laryngectomy, during which three tumors were removed from his throat. He also had a complex throat reconstruction surgery using his pectoralis muscle.
Following surgery, Ray spent 9 days in the ICU recovering from this major operation. Due to scar tissue from his previous cancer treatment, it was extremely difficult for surgeons to access and remove all of the cancerous areas. As a result, some cancer cells still remain, and he will need further treatment in the coming weeks.
Although he is insured, the out-of-pocket costs from surgery, ICU care, hospital stays, and rehabilitation are substantial. These expenses will continue to grow with the need for additional treatment and specialized equipment to help him adapt to life without a voice box.
We are starting this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden so Ray can focus on what truly matters: healing and continuing his fight. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference. If you are not in a position to give, please consider sharing this campaign with others who might be able to help.
Thank you for your compassion, support, and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
