Help Ray Jump Rope to fund Corvallis Scholarship
Tax deductible
Introduction
In December 2021, I started the Grit, Growth, and Goals Scholarship for Corvallis Public Schools Foundation. I donated $525 and I got two others (my company, HP Inc and a friend) to match my donation for a total of $1,425.
The Background and Origin of Grit, Growth, and Goals Scholarship.
I was fortunate enough to receive several scholarships when I was graduating high school. Scholarships were such a huge boost financially and psychologically going into college. I sat down in December 2021, and a moment hit me. I started thinking about three things: 1) Our time on this Earth is fleeting. 2) I want to give back to high school seniors just like those did for me. 3) I want to impact my community positively. These three thoughts motivated me to start up a new scholarship. I emailed Liv from Corvallis Public Schools Foundation and here we are with a new scholarship!
My scholarship application emphasizes the three elements in the title. First, tell a personal story where you displayed grit. Second, out of that grit story, how did the student grow? Last, what does the student want to achieve in the future? Grit, growth, and goals. We can all understand the importance of those three things, especially in a rising college student about to step out into the world as an adult!
Contributions
I would love for others to contribute to my scholarship! The funds raised here will be for the 2023 edition. All funds will go to Corvallis Public Schools Foundation. A senior in the Corvallis school district will be the scholarship recipient.
Jump Rope Event in May 2022
I am also pairing this fundraising effort with an event at our Corvallis gym called The SHOP. I will be doing Double Unders for 30 minutes. Some of our gym members' donations will be based on the number I hit that day. This challenge will be a fun event for myself, our gym, and this scholarship. So if you aren't local, don't worry about that!
