Sending blessed love to you all today. My name is Ray Brown. I am a Key Grip in the entertainment business living in Georgia but share my time in Jamaica. Pictured above are my family and the Williams family, owners of Ahhh... Ras Nantango Gallery and Gardens located in Camrose. Camrose has the distinction of being the only community in the Caribbean listed as a United Nations International City of Peace.
On October 28, 2025, a devastating hurricane packing 185 mph winds tore through the western part of Jamaica. In its destructive path were many communities that have been reduced to rubble. One such community was my community, Camrose.
Camrose is a tiny village of just 30 people, 7 miles (2000 ft) up in the hills outside of Montego Bay, Jamaica. Our community has electricity most of the time but no piped water. All of our drinking water, bathing, washing, etc., is done through catchment tanks. All of this has been compromised or destroyed.
i, along with my wife Angie, daughters Peyton and Caroline and several amazing friends have been quietly supporting the community for several years in the form of supplies for the Buckingham All Age School, presents for the children at Christmas, and materials and labor for past hurricane destruction. It has been an absolute blessing to be a part of this community. We chose to do our work humbly, thus I have asked my family and friends to never post about our trips on social media. That ends today.
Today I am reaching out to friends for help. I finally reached two members of Camrose who were able to describe the destruction and needs. My family and I have already sent emergency funds for food and water, but it is clear this is bigger than us. Several roofs are destroyed, water is contaminated, and we lost one member of our community when his home collapsed on him. Heartbreaking.
By nature, I derive great pleasure from giving. Now I'm asking for help, and this puts me out of my comfort zone. The people of Camrose are suffering and need help, so I am asking that you please give as you are able. As I am not on any social media platforms, I also humbly ask that you share this on yours to help spread the message.
Our Mission: I will personally, along with the Camrose Community Committee I serve, oversee the distribution of funds. The monies will be used for building materials, food, water, clothing, school supplies, and medical care. We will utilize the skilled labor in Camrose to reconstruct the homes and businesses, thus keeping the money in the local community. Finally, I ask that you visit the Ahhh... Ras Nantango Gallery and Gardens website to see what once was. We will rebuild and hope to host you there sooner than later! Thank you in advance for your grace and kindness.
