We lost funding for our son's residential treatment center out of California. It was previously covered by Yolo County Adoption services, but a new law no longer allows out of state funding. We have already paid a substantial amount out of pocket, and can no longer afford the remaining costs needed for him to finish the school year.
Raven has a disability that the Davis School District has not been willing to provide the services that were asked for, in order for Raven's safety and well being. We had to opt for an out of state facility, where he is now thriving. In order for him to finish out the school year, to receive credits, and graduate, we are responsible for the remaining few months of tuition. This has caused a great financial hardship for our entire family, and we cannot afford it. This should be funded through his IEP, but the district said they would not cover it.
The facility has helped him to thrive with his disability, in a way the school district and special education department were not offering. This has had a huge financial and emotional impact on our family, as well as Raven, who has two brothers. It is hard for me to ask for help, as I always feel the need to help others first, but if I cannot get the financial help to get him back in the program, my son will suffer. Bringing him back home, abruptly disrupting the program, will have negative consequences on his mental well-being and ability to finish school. There are no good options for him in Davis, as we tried this for many years. As a mother, I am asking help and putting hope and faith that others will understand and support the situation. Thank you for your unconditional help and support.
