My name is Raven Lucia Scythe. I am a disabled 19 year old in urgent need of help raising funds to afford a security deposit in order to promptly relocate housing for my safety and wellbeing.

I was granted a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher in April 2025 due to being a victim of domestic violence and having to get a restraining order. I was granted this voucher to be able to relocate somewhere my abuser wouldn't know I resided. This voucher was originally valid in Santa Clara County and I requested to move it to another county so that I would not be close to where my abuser would be.

Santa Clara County Housing Authority took 5 months to transfer my voucher to the new county, leaving me with practically no time to find new housing before this voucher I was granted expires.

I was able to find an available unit for rent only a couple weeks ago. Everything has been set up, but in order to be able to go through with this relocation I need to pay them a security deposit of $2k by 10/15/2025. Government rental assistance programs are backed up by 8 weeks from now. I applied, but I am doubtful I will receive assistance from them in time.

Section 8 stopped giving out vouchers after I was granted my voucher, meaning as of now I cannot reapply for a new voucher if my voucher expires.

If my voucher expires my safety and wellbeing are at risk. I am diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which is aggravated because I feel genuinely unsafe and terrified at home. I have nightmares and flashbacks of the abuse I endured constantly, to the point where it affects my physical health. This year I have been consistently physically sick and unable to work, sometimes for long periods of time. I am low-income and I cannot afford to miss any more work.

I have been working on getting my life back together after all the trauma and abuse I endured.
