Hello, my name is Kayla, and I’m writing this with a heart full of worry. I’m from Michigan, but my thoughts are with my father, Raul, who lives in Kingston, Jamaica — one of the many places devastated by Hurricane Melissa.
In recent days, this catastrophic storm tore through the island, leaving destruction in its wake. While my dad thankfully survived and his home still stands, the damage is profound. His roof, windows, and siding were severely impacted, and water damage has ruined parts of the ceiling. Even more heartbreaking, the construction projects he was working on — his main source of income — were completely wiped out.
He now faces displacement, dwindling supplies, and no immediate way to earn a living. The funds raised will go directly toward essentials like food, clean water, and utility bills, as well as repairs to his home and support for the work he can no longer perform.
Raul is a strong, proud Jamaican — but even the strongest need help in times like these. I’m asking family, friends, and kind strangers to please consider donating. Every dollar makes a difference and will help my dad get back on his feet.
Thank you for your compassion, your generosity, and your prayers. God bless.
