Help Raul Beat Cancer Again: Support His Fight Against Stage 4 Lymphoma

Our Story

Just 18 months ago, my brother-in-law, Raul, bravely fought and beat stage 4 lymphoma. We all celebrated what we believed was the end of his cancer journey. But now, the unimaginable has happened—Raul’s cancer has returned, and it’s more aggressive than ever.

A New Battle

Raul now faces another grueling round of chemotherapy, followed by a life-saving stem cell transplant. Today, we are here at UC San Diego with his wife, Diana, and his parents, as Raul prepares for his first surgery in what will be an incredibly tough journey. Despite the pain and uncertainty, Raul remains strong, but he needs help to continue this fight.

About Raul

Raul is the kindest, most gentle person you could meet, and he’s an amazing father to his two children: Phoenix, age 13, and Skyler, age 25, who is getting married this coming May. Raul is also a gifted musician, having played drums in the San Diego punk rock band The Mice for almost three decades, as well as in the band Billy Club before that. His love of music, family, and friends helped him get through cancer treatment the first time, and we believe it will help him through this battle again.

Why We’re Asking for Help

The costs of cancer treatment are overwhelming. While Raul has insurance, the expenses for treatments, surgeries, medications, and out-of-pocket costs are skyrocketing. In addition, Raul will need to travel to San Diego every day for the next few months for treatment, followed by a two-week hospital stay. The travel expenses alone are significant, on top of the medical bills and daily living costs.
