Help Raska fight DKA

Donation protected
This is Raska
(Rask, Raskeecho, Skeecho, Rakka, Skeech, Skee, etc.)

On Easter morning, I noticed something was very wrong with our family cat, Raska. She was laying on her side, looking very tired and wouldn’t even lift her head to eat or drink. When she couldn’t stand on her own I knew there was something bad happening to her. I rushed her to the emergency vet and found out she has Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) a serious and life-threatening complication of undiagnosed diabetes.

DKA happens when a cat's diabetes goes untreated for too long. Their body can’t use sugar properly for energy, so it starts breaking down fat instead. This creates toxic acids that build up in the blood, making them very sick, very fast. The vet said that if I had waited even one more day, she probably wouldn’t have survived. As of now, Raska is still in critical condition, but her vitals are slowly improving as the vet works to stabilize her. The good news is if she pulls through, she can go on to live many more happy years with daily insulin and regular care.

Over the last 9 years Raska has been through many major life events with me. I was 19 years old and pregnant with my first born when I took Raska home. She was the only gray kitten out of a whole litter of black ones. Shes been my girl every day since. Raska has been my emotional support through heartbreak, loss, depression, and all the hard days I never thought I’d get through. Raska has literally grown up with my kids, who absolutely adore her. She’s a part of our family and I can’t imagine our home without her following us around the house or another night with out her plopped right on top of me.

The vet bills are already stacking up fast. Just 2 nights in the emergency vet has costed over $8,000 so far. She’ll still need another day or 2 of 24/7 care to be able to come home. I truly hate asking for help but I would do absolutely anything to save her. I am ready to do everything it takes to keep her healthy and happy…. she deserves that and so much more.

Any amount you’re able to give means more than i could ever say… if you’re not in a position to donate, your prayers and positive thoughts mean just as much.

Thank you for taking the time to read and care about our sweet girl.

With love,
