On September 1, Hurricane Ida devastated the town of Downingtown and parts of Chester County. No corner of the borough was spared the devastation of Ida. Practically the entire town was underwater.
Different parts of town all saw massive flooding and stormwater-related emergencies.
My home was not spared as the water rose we evacuated quickly. Living in Downingtown my entire life I have not seen anything like this.
Water flooded the basement and the entire first floor of the home destroying everything from furniture, electronics, all kitchen appliances, washer, dryer, etc. My home was deemed a disaster. Therefore my children and I are currently displaced and living in hotels until repairs can be made and the mold can be removed, and the appliances can be replaced.
The return date to go back in our home is unknown due to the significant amount of repairs that need to be done.
