Help Rashers Get ACL Surgery
Donation protected
Hello wonderful, generous friends and community, and thanks for taking the time to read this. My name is Brooklyn, and I'm raising money so that my mom's wonderful, big-hearted rescue dog can get ACL surgery.
A little about Rashers:
Rashers is a 7-year-old former street dog who originally hails from Corpus Christi, TX but now lives in Portland, OR. His person, Juliana, didn't really expect to get another dog for a while after her beloved dog Comet passed, but Rashers stole her heart over Petfinder and came to live in Portland in 2020—as Juliana likes to say, they met online! Some of Rashers' favorite things include Juliana, the beach, finding tacos on the ground, chasing rabbits, and going on long hikes with his friends.
Unfortunately, Rashers developed a limp about a month ago. It started out pretty mild, but by the end of the week he was not putting any weight on it and Juliana called the vet. He had a series of x-rays and tests, none of which were conclusive, and Rashers and Juliana were referred to a veterinary orthopedist. Meanwhile, this extremely active dog has been unable to get the exercise he needs to be happy and calm.
Rashers was finally able to get in to see the orthopedist today, who diagnosed him with a torn ACL and meniscus damage requiring surgery, which will essentially rebuild his knee. His surgery is currently scheduled for September 10, with a 3-month recovery, and it should allow him to get back to the activities that make him (and his mama) happy.
This kind of surgery runs between $6500 and $7000 in the Portland area. This surgery poses a massive and unexpected expense, and it comes on the heels of some other expenses (unexpected car repairs and a sick kitty). There is little to no financial assistance available for veterinary care like this, which is why we are humbly and gratefully asking for your help.
We are so incredibly grateful for your support!
Love,
Brooklyn, Juliana, and Rashers
