Help Rashelle with tumor removal surgery and recovery

Last December, Rashelle went to her year-end eye appointment because she had noticed that her vision was getting worse in both eyes. Her left eye was not responding and her peripheral vision wasn’t great. The optometrist couldn’t figure out what was going on, so she referred us to Harvard Eye Center. The specialist there noticed that the nerves behind her left eye had gotten worse in those two weeks. The specialist recommended that Rashelle go to the ER immediately and get a MRI. This is when we were told that Rashelle has a Skull-Based Meningioma tumor, with the only option being surgery. If surgery does not happen, Rashelle would lose her eyesight and eventually pass away within 3 years. The doctor explained that the tumor has grown onto the nerves of the left eye and right next to the carotid artery that comes through in behind the eye in the skull. There is a possibility that when the tumor is peeled off the nerves, they will be damaged and she will lose more vision, if not all her vision in the left eye.

Rashelle is scheduled to have brain surgery on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024. We will continue to keep everyone updated on her health once she recovers from surgery.
