In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, for every person with a merciful heart, this is the story of Rasha. A young girl, like other girls in Gaza, dreamed of a normal life, studying, working, and hoping for a future in which her sister would marry and rejoice with her brothers. But the war spared no one.
More than 2 years ago, Rasha lived in a warm home with her father, mother, and siblings. A home filled with the warmth of family, childhood memories, and invaluable security. At a moment they least expected, the bombing targeted their home. Rasha heard her mother scream, saw the fear in the eyes of her younger siblings, and then everything collapsed. The ceiling, the walls, the furniture, and all the memories that meant life to them. They miraculously emerged from the rubble: Rasha, her mother, her father, and her siblings. They left, but they left everything behind. The house that sheltered them is now rubble, offering no refuge.
Since that day, Rasha and her family have been homeless. They have no place to live, no room to sleep safely. Their life today: The family lives in a worn-out tent that protects them from neither the winter cold not the summer heat. When it rains, the tent floods, and Rasha, along with her mother and siblings, shivers in the freezing cold. Her father used to provide for the family, but the war has cut off all means of support. Today, they can't even meet their most basic needs. Her mother is ill and cannot find enough medicine due to shortages and high prices. Her younger brother has been deprived of education and have grown up amidst the sounds of bombing and hunger. Every day, Rasha asks them, "What do you want to eat?'' They answer silently, knowing that a response will only increase their anxiety.
Rasha herself... a girl who had dreams like everyone else. She wanted to finish her studies, work, and build a future for herself. But today, all her dreams boiled down to one thing: seeing her family live safely. For her mother to eat a clean meal, for her little brother to sleep without shivering. For a father exhausted by displacement to find the strength for another day.
Rasha is not asking you to give her back her home, because she knows that is impossible. But she is asking for help so that she and her family can live with human dignity. We need your help to:
1. Buy a sturdy tent to protect the family from the winter cold.
2. Provide treatment for her sick mother
3. Provide the family with clean food and drinking water everyday.
4. Buy winter clothes and blankets to protect them from the merciless frost.
Every donation, no matter how small, means life to them. For $10, you can feed a starving child. For $50, you can buy medicine for a sick mother. For $100, you can buy a blanket that will protect an entire family from freezing to death.
Rasha writes to you: "I have nothing today but my prayers for you. By Allah, I pray for everyone who reads my story and reaches out to us. We have no one but Allah and then you. My father has grown old and weary, my mother is sick and can't get her medicine, and my younger brothers are suffering from hunger and cold. Please do not leave us in this darkness."
