Help Rashad's Family
Donation protected
Hi Friends,
I'm organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Rashad's family as they mourn his loss and prepare for a memorial.
Rashad ended his life on September 26, 2021. It's still a shock to even say that. Most of you probably knew he had a lifelong struggle with mental illness. Some of you also knew that recently he was involved in a struggle with our cruelly flawed justice system, where the help he desperately needed eluded him, as it does so many.

It's hard to make any sense of any of it, but the community who loved and knew him is drawing together to help even though nothing feels okay. Thank you for being here, drawing together, during an incredibly difficult time for so many.
This GoFundMe will go directly to Rashad's parents to help pay for memorial service fees, transporting Rashad's things, and all the other countless big and small burdens that come along with mourning the loss of a loved one. This isn't something anyone is prepared to budget for and so anything helps.
I have currently set the total at $3,300 for the current needs of the family. The budget breakdown is this:
$2,000 - funeral home expenses
$700 - the expense of getting Rashad's car to his parents in Georgia
$600 - the expense of getting Rashad's dog, Buckley, from a shelter in Massachusetts to his parents' home in Georgia. (Buckley has already arrived safe and sound, so these funds will help reimburse the expense already paid for.)
I don't yet know a date for Rashad's memorial service but will update here and by email when I do.
We miss Rashad. We miss the light he brought to the world. What we can do now is support his family in their time of deepest grief and loss.
Thank you so much for being here.
Love,
Hannah
