Help Raquel's Family Secure a New Life
Donation protected
Raquel and her family traveled almost 4000 miles, mostly on foot, to escape xenophobia and start a new life in Denver. When I met Raquel last November, she had been walking 12 hours every day for the six weeks she’d been in Denver, searching for a job by going business to business. I knew her two weeks before I realized she’d been doing this in flip flops and no coat. While I understood she was looking for warm clothes for her toddler daughter and her teenage sister (for whom Raquel is guardian), she never mentioned that she had nothing warm herself. This is the selfless mother and sister I know Raquel to be, and I am hopeful she and her family will be granted asylum so they can remain here.
Raquel and her family have a very complicated asylum case which requires the help of a high-quality and trustworthy attorney. They need to make a $2k deposit as soon as possible and will need to make $500 payments monthly until the total of $13.5k is reached. (I have verified that this is a reasonable cost for the services required for their case.)
At this time, I’m hoping we can raise $6750 to cover half the cost.
If a loan is a more feasible way for you to help, or if you have any questions about helping this family, I’d love to discuss with you.
Thank you so much!

Raquel & her daughter were recently baptized at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, and Raquel & Adrian were married later there the same day! They had long dreamed of a church wedding.
