My name is Jessica, I’m a busy hairdresser/mom who has been blessed to have the best assistant for 3 years. To those who know me, anyone can vouch that my assistant Raquel is one of the kindest souls you can ever meet. Over the past 3 years she has helped me at work, at home with my children and anyway she can. Dependable, kind, and hardworking. Saturday morning she woke up to banging on her doors and windows and didn’t know who it was so she didn’t answer. As she got up and got ready for work she realized her husband didn’t make it home the night before, and the banging was detectives who left a card to call them. She received the absolutely devastating news that her 36 year old husband Omar got in a bad car accident on his way home and did not survive the accident. I never knew Omar but I know he was loved by his friends and family. Raquel is in an absolute state of shock and her heart is broken. They have been together since they were very young and she does not know life without him. As if the emotional stress isn’t enough, there’s now the financial stress of a funeral and bills/and an overhead that was once split amongst the 2 of them, now entirely on her. Times like this you wish you can help ease the pain but no one has the power to do that, however, we do have the ability to take some of the financial stress off by all gathering and donating.
