Hi, my name is Layne, and I’m Randy Weisgarber’s daughter. As many of you know, there was a devastating fire at Chartwell Carrington Seniors Community on March 9th. In the chaos of the evacuation, my dad wasn’t able to bring his power chair with him, and it was lost.

That chair meant everything to him. It had only been gifted to him a few months ago by his dear friend Bill Smith’s family, and it truly changed his world. My dad is a senior and a stroke survivor, and that chair gave him something so important — independence. It allowed him the freedom to move around, to go outside, and to live with a sense of dignity and normalcy.

Losing it in the fire has been incredibly hard, especially when he has already lost so much. Right now, we’re just hoping to bring a little bit of that freedom and happiness back into his life by helping him replace the chair that gave him his mobility.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for caring about my dad’s story. It truly means more than words can say. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
