The Barany family is reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits for our brother, Randy. Three years ago, Randy was diagnosed with early-stage colon cancer. He bravely endured major surgery, including the removal of his large intestine, colon, rectum and created a j-pouch. It was a long and painful journey, but Randy fought with everything he had and made it through.
Today, we are heartbroken to share that Randy’s cancer has returned, and he is now facing a Stage 3 battle. He has explored every option available and has seen real improvements with metabolic treatments, but the cost has become an overwhelming burden. The tumor is on the j-pouch, and traditional treatments would require him to live with an ileostomy bag for the rest of his life—something incredibly difficult for someone as active and hands-on as Randy. The treatments that give him the best chance at maintaining his quality of life are not covered by insurance and come with a staggering price tag, between $10,000-15,000 per month.
If you know Randy, you know he is the last person who would ever ask for help. So we, his family, are putting aside our pride and asking on his behalf. We want him to be able to focus on healing—not on the stress of how he’s going to afford it. Any amount you can give will make a difference. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support. Randy needs to get well—not just for himself, but for his family and especially for his sweet three-year-old daughter who adores him. Please keep Randy and all of us in your prayers.
