I am normally not one to ask for help in this capacity- but right now I am in a state of heartbreak and desperation. The past few weeks have been nothing short of mentally, physically, and emotionally taxing- and I feel as if I am drowning.
A few weeks ago, Randy started to experience some severe health issues. It started with Nausea, Diarrhea, and breaking out in fevers of 103-104. I brought Randy to Vassar ER- in which they stated at the time that they believed that he has a stomach bug that was going around- and that he just had to work it out of his system. He did get an X- Ray, Cat Scan, Blood Work and Stool Sample done at this time- and they found no indication of anything underlying (Though at that time we were still waiting on the results of the blood work and stool sample).
The next 48 Hours, Randy continued to not improve- in fact his symptoms were continuing to get worse. He went back to the emergency room that Saturday- in which they told him that they tried to call him to tell him that his blood work came back and that this was all caused by Lymes (Which he was diagnosed with back in 2022).
The phone number that they had on file for him was a completely wrong phone number- one that we have never even heard before. That night, they gave him fluids, acetaminophen, etc., gave him a prescription for Doxy, and sent him home.
He was able to fill his prescription for the antibiotics that Monday- and we were hoping that it would start to show signs of improvement after a few days (as the last time we navigated this- within 48 hours his symptoms began to dissipate). This time- was not the case.
His symptoms continued to get progressively worse- still spiking fevers of 103-104, with no improvements. He called Vassar on Thursday, letting them know that he is still extremely sick- in which they expressed that he has to continue to just take the antibiotics and Tylenol/ Motrin when his fevers spike- but he has to give the medication time to work through his system.
Flashforward to this past Saturday- where his fever spiked to 104.6. Randy refused to go back to Vassar, and asked that I take him to Kingston hospital. They put him on fluids, IV Antibiotics and Tylenol, etc. While sitting with him waiting to get his room, the entire left side of his face went numb, and he is unable to move it. We called the NP, who told us that he was experiencing Bells Palsy as result of the Lymes.
Since being admitted, the Bells Palsy has not resolved itself, and the fevers are continuing to happen, despite being on the antibiotics. He has yet to be released, and he is due to go in for a spinal tap today and to do a scan of his brain to see if the fevers he has been experiencing have caused anything out of the ordinary.
In the midst of all of this- Randy has not been able to work in weeks. As many of you know, I work at Adams now full time- and I have had to take a tremendous amount of time off to step in for weddings that Randy was supposed to execute- but due to his sickness is unable to.
Because the store has been closed and he has been unable to work- there has been no cash flow at all going into the business to sustain anything. With having to take so much time off from Adams, I have no sick/ vacation time left for me to take which makes getting anything done for the business right now- and I can not afford to lose this job because my health benefits are the reason that Randy is able to get the care that he is getting right now.
I am putting this out publicly, with a ton of embarrassment and shame, but I can not continue to carry the weight of this and need more help now more than ever. If anyone is able to or willing, I could really use any financial support possible. I truly at my breaking point- this is my rock bottom. God, I need a miracle.
