My parents, Randy and Susan Thomas, have just had a catastrophe beyond imagination. During the recent flooding in Northern Michigan, a sinkhole under their deck opened and caused a load bearing wall in their basement to collapse. Roughly 6 feet of water has rushed in, destroying the basement and causing upwards of $50,000 of damage.
They are safe, and for that we thank whatever may be out there. But currently, they've been displaced. A home that they've spent 7 years in, one they planned to retire in, has been destroyed and insurance says their isnt a plan that would cover this type of situation.
Through the grace and kindness of neighbors and friends, they aren't on the streets, but once can imagine the anguish of seeing your life's work nearly collapse. All theres left to do now is continue.
I'm asking for help. My parents are good, upstanding people, strong members of their community, and upstanding citizens.
