Random Harvest is more than just a market and café—it’s a mission-driven space dedicated to building a relational local food economy. We prioritize people over transactions, connection over convenience, and care over extraction. Our shelves are filled with locally sourced food and goods, and our business is shaped by the people who work here and the community we serve. It’s a place to gather, share, and nourish one another.
On April 16th, our community was shaken by a tragic accident that took two lives and resulted in a fuel spill. Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones affected. Since then, environmental cleanup has led to a road closure and detour, drastically reducing the flow of traffic past our doors. As a rural market and café, we rely on that steady stream of visitors, and the sudden drop has had a devastating impact. In just the first two weeks, we lost a significant portion of our revenue, and there’s no clear timeline for when the road will reopen. For a small business like ours, this loss is catastrophic.
We’ve launched Soup Nights and Gift Card campaigns, and while the community response has been wonderful, it’s not enough to bridge the gap. We’ve also filed an insurance claim, but the outcome and timing are uncertain. Right now, we’re facing a huge financial gap and need your help to keep Random Harvest open. Your support will help us cover immediate operating costs, continue paying our staff, and sustain the events and programming that make this place special. If Random Harvest has ever been a place where you’ve felt welcomed, nourished, or connected, please consider supporting us—whether by donating, shopping, attending events, or spreading the word. With your help, we can weather this challenge and continue to nourish our community for years to come.
With deep gratitude,
Robin, Hillary & the Random Harvest crew
