Emergency Help for Rent & Recovery After Serious Accident

Hey Yall.. I'm Randi

On January 5th, 2026, I started a new position working for the state of Arizona ,excited for a fresh start. Just a few weeks later, on January 27th, my life did a full 180....my son and I were in a head-on collision that totaled our car and left me with multiple fractures in my heel and him with a sprained wrist and a few bruises . I had surgery Feb 16th, plates and screws were inserted , and I’ve been completely non-weight-bearing ever since.

Because I had just started my job, I don’t qualify for paid leave. I’m on extended leave, which is basically just job security, meaning when I’m medically cleared, I’ll still have my job. I’ve had no income since January 27th.

By the grace of God, I was able to use my tax refund to cover February and March rent and buy groceries and toiletries, but now I’ve run out of resources. My rent was due April 3rd, and yesterday I received a 5-day eviction notice. Without immediate help, I risk losing our apartment.

I’ve applied for assistance through Arizona programs, but the system is slow, and I haven’t been able to get through despite calling daily. For the few I did reach, I'm waiting on their response.

I’m expected to be medically cleared around May 17th, but even then, I’ll need physical therapy, and I don’t have a vehicle to return to work. Right now, I’m just trying to keep a roof over our heads and make it through this recovery period.

This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I’ve always worked and taken care of my boys, and asking for help is not easy but at this point, I have no other option. We’ve been in Arizona a little over a year and a half, and I’ll be honest, it’s been a challenge. I have no family here, so it’s just me figuring things out on my own. Coming all the way from the Bronx, New York, sometimes I wonder if Arizona is testing me… but I’m keeping the faith and asking God for guidance (and maybe a teleportation device back to New York someday).

If you are able to give, no matter the amount, it would mean more than I can express. And if you can’t give, please consider sharing this.

Thank you for your prayers, your kindness, and your support. God has carried us this far, and I truly believe He will make a way.
