Welcome to our journey! Randi was born with a rare genetic condition called CM-AVM syndrome, caused by a RASA 1 gene mutation. This syndrome affects the capillaries, veins, and arteries throughout her body. What began as what looked like just a birthmark has turned into swelling, pain, weakness, and infections for Randi. For years, we searched for a treatment that would work for her, and finally, we have found hope in Italy with a treatment called electro sclerotherapy. Unfortunately, this treatment is not available in the United States.

CM-AVM syndrome can pose multiple health threats, including heart strain, skin breakdown, and, for Randi, significant changes in limb size. This condition is genetic, and while Randi is our main priority, if we can manage to reach our goal, I will also be able to receive this treatment when we go. This page will be a place to share Randi’s journey (and ours, if we can reach that goal), fundraise to help us get to Italy, educate others, raise awareness, and give hope to other families who may be in the same boat we were for years.
