Help Randi and Jared Fulfill Their Dream of Parenthood: Support Their IVF and Surrogacy Journey"

My name is Teresa, and I am the proud mother of two incredible daughters, Randi, 30, and Taylor, 27. I am reaching out to share Randi's journey and to ask for your support in helping her achieve a dream that has long seemed out of reach.

Randi was diagnosed with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP) when she was just 10 years old. Her battle with this rare genetic disorder began much earlier, with surgeries and hospital stays starting as young as six weeks old. By the age of three, she had already undergone numerous surgeries to remove desmoid tumors, including one near her brain stem. It wasn’t until she was nine that a pediatric oncologist connected these tumors to FAP, a condition no one else in our immediate family had.

FAP is a life-altering condition that puts Randi at high risk for several cancers, including those of the adrenal glands, stomach, brain, pancreas, thyroid, and colon. Since routine labs often miss these cancers, Randi has faced a lifetime of scopes, biopsies, surgeries, and even chemotherapy at just three years old.

In December 2003, during a routine scope, we learned that Randi's colon was so covered in polyps that it looked like sandpaper. The oncologist recommended a total colectomy, which we decided to proceed with the following month.

Despite these challenges, Randi has faced her condition with remarkable courage. Throughout her early teens and into adulthood, she lived with an ostomy bag, excelling as an honor student, cheerleader, and volunteer. She pursued a career as a registered nurse, despite her aversion to hospitals due to her own experiences. Her commitment to helping others is a testament to her strength and resilience.

In 2017, Randi underwent the Whipple procedure, which involved removing parts of her pancreas, duodenum, stomach, small intestine, and bile duct. This left her with fewer organs and increased health challenges.

Recently, Randi and her husband, Jared, decided to start IVF to overcome the genetic barriers to having a child. This process will involve genetic testing to identify embryos without the mutated gene and surrogacy, as Randi's medical history makes carrying a pregnancy herself unlikely.

We are raising funds to support this journey. Randi and Jared’s dream of becoming parents is one that deserves to be realized. Randi’s kindness, strength, and unwavering spirit make her an inspiration to everyone she meets. As her mother, I believe deeply that she deserves to experience the joy of parenthood and to pass on her wonderful qualities to a child of her own.

FAP will always be a part of Randi’s life, but it does not define her. Her courage, kindness, and resilience shine through every challenge she faces. Supporting her in this next chapter of her life would be a profound blessing, not only for her but for the world that will benefit from another incredible soul that she and Jared hope to bring into it.

Thank you for taking the time to read Randi’s story. Any support you can provide is deeply appreciated.
