Hello,
My name is Chandler and I am reaching out on behalf of my dad, Randall. He is currently battling pancreatic cancer and has been lucky enough to have caught it early enough to have it treated and potentially surgically removed. Pancreatic cancer is typically a terminal diagnosis and it's pretty rare to catch it early enough for any type of treatment.
With this treatment plan comes some challenges.
He is 72 and lives alone in a remote part of the White Mountains in Arizona. His closest access to care is over an hour away from him, and he doesn't have the ability to drive or get rides. Additionally, the care he would receive at this cancer center is delayed due to lack of resources at the hospital (small hospital in a small town). His immediate family also lives 300-700 miles from him.
To treat his cancer, time is of the essence.
After months of research on foundations, federal and state funding, the timeline of this illness, and any other sort of way through this, the only possible way to get him prompt, modern, and comprehensive treatment is moving him down to the Phoenix area.
As it stands now, he can't be alone. He's a fall risk and has already suffered a hospitalization due to infection which caused major confusion. As his illness progresses along with the aggressive nature of his treatment plan, his situation will only get worse.
The biggest hurdle at this point to get him the care he needs is proper housing catered towards his needs.
He is in need of assisted living, and as his chemo treatments go on, he's going to need more intensive care, which adds up quickly.
We are doing everything we can to find the funding for this, but have hit some dead ends. All government funding takes months to receive, and we need to act quickly.
Starting this week, he will be moved to the assisted living so he can start treatment next week.
When donating to this cause, it will help my dad live somewhere pleasant as he battles one of the most vicious cancers known to man. It will help him receive the care he needs and deserves, and will allow him to be closer to his family, and surrounded by professional caretakers to support him during this very tumultuous and scary time.
Thank you for your help and support,
Chandler Sanderson
