Help Randa Duffy Recover from Emergency Surgery

Friends and Community,

The wonderful and inimitable Randa Duffy underwent several surgeries after being admitted to the ER on July 20 with life-threatening medical problems. This fundraiser is to support Randa and her family on her long path to recovery.

Randa was admitted to the E.R. for what seemed like ongoing, but routine, medical issues. Her medical team determined she had serious, underlying medical problems, including septic shock, a partially collapsed lung and a damaged esophagus, all requiring immediate attention. Her esophagus had to be removed. After several surgeries, she is now in the ICU in critical but stable condition. She is currently fighting for her life.

Anyone who has had the privilege to know Randa recognizes her for her buoyant personality, sharp wit, and great style. She is a true kitchen wizard, having spent countless hours conjuring up themed menus and novel vegan recipes for friends, Denver activists, and nearly every DIY event in need of a vegan caterer. In addition to her talent in the kitchen and hilarious sense of humor, she is one of the most thoughtful, loyal, brilliant, and loving of humans. She is one of the good ones, and she is in need of our help!

Once she emerges from the ICU, she will need several weeks of support in the hospital, followed by months of follow-up treatment.

To care for her through the recovery process, her family and close friends will need to travel to Denver. Randa will be unable to work.

For these reasons, we are asking for your financial support to help Randa cover day-to-day expenses, unforeseen medical bills, and her family’s cost of traveling to and from Denver to care for her while she heals.

Let’s all show Randa how much her community loves her so she can prioritize recovery after this life-threatening medical situation.

Money fundraised here will be used for:

● Randa’s room and board during recovery

● Unforeseen medical bills

● Plane tickets to and from Denver for her family

● Housing in Denver for her family as she undergoes treatment.

This fundraiser was set up by Allie Lubbs. To make things easier for Randa, funds will be transferred out of this fundraiser to Wesley Dismore, a dear friend of Randa's. Wesley will then disburse the funds to Randa and her family members as needed.
