Rana is a widow suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS) in Tripoli, Lebanon. MS is a chronic illness of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. Symptoms vary widely but often include fatigue, difficulty walking, numbness or tingling, muscle weakness, and chronic pain. These symptoms can significantly impact daily life and require ongoing treatment and medication.

Rana lost her husband many years ago and now lives with her parents and children in a single household. The family is struggling financially, making it difficult to afford the necessary treatments to manage her MS. Rana experiences chronic pain every day and is unable to pay for the more advanced treatment available in Turkey, which could greatly improve her quality of life.
