My name is Kavya, and I am raising funds for my dearest friend, Ramya Allaparthi. Ramya came to the US last September to pursue her Master’s at the University of Texas. She finished her first semester successfully but had to return to India after being diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APML), a severe form of blood cancer.

She has been undergoing treatment at Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad. The medical reports show she is in a critical stage. The results from the Interphase Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) test indicate a positive for PML/RARA gene rearrangement in 93% of cells examined, confirming the diagnosis of APML. Her family is struggling both emotionally and financially. They have exhausted their savings to provide her with the best possible care.
